Campsitarus-- FFXI campsites and leveling spots! ^^

23rd August 2010: I am sorry to say, but I will no longer be updating Campsitarus. More information can be found here if you want, but long story short, thank you everybody for your support!

12th May 2011:  A Version Update has altered mob levels in many locations throughout Vana'diel, which are not reflected here. Use at your own risk.
General information and acknowledgements can be found here.
General information on party dynamics can be found here.

Standard camps:

Standard camps are the common sites that parties go to, whether due to the ease of mobs or the convenience of the location. However, because of this, there is also a high chance of competition from other parties.

Alternate camps:

Alternate camps are the off-beat locales that aren't visited often because other, newer campsites have rendered these ones obsolete, or the campsite isn't the easiest to get to, or has certain other requirements, or players just never caught onto them for some reason or another.

Either way, if you or your party is out for some {adventure}, or if everywhere else seems crowded, feel free to try some of these places. Because of their nature, there'll be little competition, if any.

Solo Pet camps:
The levels provided here are solo levels and are a little conservative to cater for melees. Adventurous mages that nuke an enemy to death can try out some of these camps earlier than the recommended level range.

While soloing off Beastmaster pets can be a very nice alternative to party seeking, remember that you will usually only have yourself to rely on. Bring some form of reraise, sneak, invisible, and a way to get home.

Sometimes, a BST mob may not actually be at the camp location, in which case you will have to find a way to kill the existing mobs until the BST spawns. Such camps are marked in blue.

Finally, be aware that other higher level players may very well accidentally (or intentionally!) come by and kill your Beastmaster.
19-22 Qufim Island
19-22 Lower Delkfutt's Tower
21-23 Batallia Downs
21-23 Middle Delkfutt's Tower
21-23 Rolanberry Fields
21-23 Sauromugue Champaign
23-25 Ranguemont Pass

Note: At Level 24, you gain Utsusemi: Ichi from /NIN, and a Reraise Earring.

25-27 Lower Delkfutt's Tower
25-27 Upper Delkfutt's Tower
26-28 Yhoator Jungle
27-29 Beaucedine Glacier (Goblin's Tigers)
27-29 Bibiki Bay
29-31 Attohwa Chasm
31-33 Beaucedine Glacier
35-37 The Sanctuary of Zi'Tah
36-38 Eastern Altepa Desert
36-38 Xarcabard
36-40 Yhoator Jungle (Tonberry Elementals)
40-44 Castle Zvahl Baileys (Demon Elementals)
41-43 Temple of Uggalepih (Tonberry Elementals)
46-48 Cape Terrigan
46-48 Pso'Xja (Tonberry Elementals)
48-51 East Ronfaure [S]
48-51 West Sarutabaruta [S]
49-54 Gustav Tunnel
49-54 Ifrit's Cauldron
54-57 Pso'Xja
54-59 West Sarutabaruta [S] (Yagudo Elementals)
56-60 Sauromugue Champaign [S]
56-60 Vunkerl Inlet [S]
59-64 Aydeewa Subterrane
58-60 Newton Movalpolos
60-64 Bibiki Bay
64-71 Newton Movalpolos
66-74 Vunkerl Inlet [S]
70-74 Bhaflau Thickets

Some points to note:
* When a BST spawns a new pet, the pet will be treated as behind the mob. That is to say, you can immediately pull the newly summoned pet immediately, with no fear of the Beastmaster linking.

* Pets do not aggro- only the Beastmaster will.

* Special thanks go to Salacia for his original work, and Lion heart's update.

How has nobody commented on this? Used this a lot back in the day when I didn't know my camp spots from a death trap.

Thank you for the hard work.

Yeah, this is a very kind summary d('- ')b
Those who can't read the Japanese Hunter's Bible guide should love you and the Atlas page this seems to be based upon (?).
I'm writing up this entry on my own Blogger site:

Very nice guide! I do have a question though, I'm experimenting with a 4 person party, nin/war, thf/nin, dnc/drg, brd/whm. Can your guide be used to find camps for this setup? I'm guessing your level range is for a typical 6 man group. Would I need to go to the camps that are slightly above the level of the party? We're all @37 and have more skill than gear haha.
if you can help me out! :) Once again, amazing guide!

I like your camp guide. It would be awesome if you added solo/duo/small party camp spots as well. Although the information is out there, to have it all here would be that much better.

What about biddybugs in Jugner Forest S. Seems like it might be a good alternative there to Kuftal Tunnel from 52-55.

We know E. Ronfrare S. is great thx to you.

thanks to level sync and field manuals, a rather old (pre-zilart) camp is starting to come back to life. 29-33 Beaucedine Glaicer (Tiger/Goblin Pathfinder/Giga's Tiger) using the G-9 camp. It is recommended that everyone use outpost warp and/or Teleport Vahzl (this will require silent oils and prism powders), and reraise items (cause it is a very long walk back).

The advantages to the camp:
1. Easy access to the field manual and outpost
2. Completing Page 1 of the field manual nets over 800 XP, and can be repeated every game day
3. Addition of Level Sync makes it where you only need one member to be at level 29

The disadvantages to the camp:
1. Long walk (not to mention silent oils and prism powders are required where applicable)
2. Paralyna is required
3. The H-9 tiger alley is a roaming camp
4. There are some mobs in the area that will eat a level 29 party alive, and the zoneline is too far away.
5. There will be some competition with soloers and other duo/trios.

I tried it a view times and its great there, and much easier ´cause the crabs have so much def and the bats not.

think of it and give it a try.

The Cointeach camp in Xarcabard (S) is great. If you camp at (F-8) you can pull cointeaches from two directions. You can also pull Dire Gargouilles which give awesome xp at 75. They are a little bit harder than the cointeaches, (A T4 nuke did about 25% of it's HP) I would highly recommend this camp to any BLM looking for something other than puddings.

I don't think this is the case nowadays. Or is it? I've had the BST link with the pet when pulling it right after it spawned.

Ugh, those darn pets path so weird sometimes.

I was surprised not to see the pet camp in Xarcabard (S). Gigas's tiger pets around the Campagin Arbiter where you zone in. The camp is mid-60s, 63-66ish with 3-4 BLMs (There was also a solo BLM at 70 killing them), and is very good exp with around 5 BSTs to pull pets from.
