48-50 Garlaige Citadel



Requirements/Notes:
* Link management required.
* Silent Oils and Prism Powders recommended.
* Supports 2 parties.

Target mobs:
Primary: Chamber Beetle
* Beetle
* Aggro to Sight
* Links by Sight
* Weak to Ice
* Weak to Light

Commentarus:
Both camps are behind the second Banishing gate (the southern gates). As there are Magic Pots and Bombs around, mages will not be able to cast Sneak or Invisible, so be sure to bring along some Silent Oils and Prism Powders as needed. Once behind Banishing Gate #2, move to either camp.

The Chamber Beetles are rather clustered together, so you will either need a Summoner to "Carby-pull" (be sure that the Beetles actually kill Carbuncle, as opposed to Retreat or Release) or a BLM or BRD for Sleepga or Lullaby.

Or, having a legendary puller also helps. ^^

As there are only Chamber Beetles in the region, this should be a good place to xp until 50, without the weaker Funnel Bats to distract you, unlike the more popular basement.

This is a fantastic camp from 48-51, but getting there can kill you if you're unprepared.

Sneak Oils and Prism Powders are required by everyone. Without these, you will be stuck trying to get through the 2nd Banishing Gate. The switch rooms and the hallways contain combinations of mobs that aggro by Sight, Sound, Low HP, and Magic, and your party will be split on opposite ends of the hall from each other. Everyone needs to be responsible for their own Sneak and Invisible to make this work.

The 2nd Banishing Gate: If you've never done this before, you need a person standing on each of the 4 switches to get through, just like the 1st Banishing Gate. However, the switches are hidden better. Near the gate is a set of 8 small rooms. The switches are in the corner rooms -- the furthest SW, SE, NW, and NE rooms from the gate. Once you see the message that the 2nd gate is opening, everyone needs to make for the gate to get through before it closes again.

Once you're through the gate, you're safe. The only concern is possible links, but it's not hard to put these beetles to Sleep. With a good party, you can make a lot of XP here, and because of the location it's less likely you'll find this place overcamped.

This camp could actually be more viable now, if everyone has the mandragora warp. For those who haven't heard, there is a Lycopodium NPC near gate #2 in Garlaige [S], and talking to him gives a little mini-cutscene. Then in the present, you can trade a flower (most flowers work; I use carnations) to the blank spot where the mandy was in the past, and it'll warp you up the one-way drop, so that you are behind Gate #2. If you have a PT you can just go through Gate #1, but to get there solo you can take the Maw to get behind gate #3, then get there from there.
